Rural New Mexico Gluten Free Options

While Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, and Santa Fe offer many dedicated gluten-free resources (which you can find on this page), New Mexico has so much more to explore! This guide highlights gluten free finds and hidden gems throughout the rest of the Land of Enchantment. Whether you're planning a road trip, visiting family, or simply looking to discover your next favorite spot, this list is here to help you find safe and delicious gluten-free eats in communities across rural New Mexico. Please not that I’ve reached out to those I could for more info on cross-contact and will update with more information as I receive it. Please don’t forget to leave Find Me Gluten Free (free) Reviews. Find my discount code for premium on my shop.

Want to be featured? Please complete THIS form if you own or manage a rural establishment that serves gluten free. I’ve asked many of the below listed to complete this form. In the meantime, I’m proving the info I do have since eating in small town can be challenging, this can be a starting point for someone until more info is available.

ABIQUIU

Abiquiu Inn: Their menu has a couple gluten free labels but not many, for tacos, steak w shrimp and salmon.

BELEN

Dough Daddy Delights: 100% GF Kitchen, Not Establishment. Their daughter has celiac so their kitchen is only used for their gluten free items. They do provide items with gluten that are cooked in a commercial kitchen then brought in house to sell. Gluten free items are presented and stored separately. They offer GF/SF/V options as well. Follow them here.

CARLSBAD

YellowBrix: Their website reports gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options and to ask your server.

CAPITAN

Che Palle: Reportedly has a gluten free pizza.

Osso Grill: Reportedly has GF buns and possibly GF enchiladas. They also had a GF catfish option.

CEDAR CREST

Flamez Fusion: They only have one grill which makes cross contact a problem for celiacs. All others, all of the items on the veggie plate for the main platters and gluten free and they have the chicken shawarma and beef shawarma platters that are also gluten free. No gluten free pita.

Rumor Brewery: Everything that goes in their fryer is gluten free (fish and chips). They do not have a gluten free kitchen. They have a gluten free pizza that goes into the same oven. For the sandwiches, they have gluten free break but it is prepared on shared equipment.

Trail Rider Pizza: Gluten free and vegan options. The pizza is made from scratch. For an allergy order they will clear off a dedicated space, use their own tools, get fresh ingredients from fresh buckets and use a deck in over dedicated to gluten free

CHAMA

Hunters Restaurant and Bar: I’ve not confirmed this myself, but someone commented that you could find a basic meal here made gluten free.

Rio Chama Espresso Kitchen: Reported to have gluten free options, waiting to hear more.

EDGEWOOD

All Roads Cafe: They are able cook, cut and prepare gluten free items in a newly cleaned pan, cutting board, utensils if allergy is specified. They do function in a very small kitchen and cannot guarantee against cross-contact.

Mad Macarons: Most Macarons are gluten free and they deliver to ABQ.

RED RIVER

Old Tymers: There are several gluten free labels across their menu.

RUIDOSOS

Cornerstone bakery: This is a bakery that uses gluten so note that. Having said that, they have been knowledgeable about helping me out to order gluten free safely.

Downshift Brewery: Not the safest of options, I did order a salad once. They have gluten free pizza for non-celiacs.

Grill Caliente: I wasn’t the most confident eating here, but I had some tacos with sauce because it wasn’t gluten free. They said the tacos were prepared without cross-contact.

Hall of Flame Burgers: Really good burgers but is going to be risky. If they help you with cross-contact will really depend on who is working. I’ve had times that have worked out and time I’ve gotten sick. They have a gluten free bun.

Michael J’s Restaurant: They have gluten free pasta- I’ve been able to eat here a few times without getting sick.

Purple Mountain Taffy Co.: Some taffy I saw was labeled gluten free, I did not ask about cross-contact.

Rosa’s Roasted Corn: It’s a tiny little shop, I got some corn and just talked w her on how to make it safe.

SANDIA PARK

Lantern Ridge Farm Market: Here is what they said: “We offer some gluten-friendly options. For certain menu items, we can substitute gluten-free bread upon request. Our kitchen handles wheat and other gluten-containing ingredients, and we use shared cooking surfaces, preparation areas, utensils, and equipment. While our team will do its best to reduce the risk of cross-contact, we cannot guarantee that any item will be completely free from gluten. Because of this, our food may not be appropriate for individuals with celiac disease or severe gluten allergies. We encourage guests to speak with our staff before ordering so we can explain the available options and preparation methods.”

SILVER CITY

Enjoy The Journey Cafe & Gallery: Lots of gluten free labels on their menu

TAOS

AceQ Restaurant: When I visited they were great with breaking down gluten free options and accommodating cross-contact by switching cooking methods. Most everything can be made gluten free, they do a lot with cross-contact but not everything will be an option.

Bent Street Grille: While they have gluten free labels on the menu I have yet to reach someone to address cross-contact.

Doc Martins: Located inside Taos In and somewhat famous for their food, they also have gluten free options. I hopes to check it out when I visited in 2025 but they closed early and we were left without super. Maybe next time!

La Cueva: I got breakfast here, their chile was gluten free and they were able to prep my tacos free from cross-contact.

La Luna at La Fonda Hotel: Indigenous owned and operates, 100% gluten free.

Ojo Caliente: The restaurant I have eaten at a few times successfully and thought it was a good with a few good options and some tasty gluten free blue corn muffins to start.

Ricky’s: I saw a flyer in their local magazine that they offer gluten free options! Apparently they have the best chile in Taos!

Sabor Real: Supposedly only the tamales are safe, I’m waiting to hear back.

TIJERES

High Mountain Grill & Coffee: Has GF buns, tortillas and breakfast bowls

NM Roots Cafe: Has gluten free bread that is reportedly (by a customer) stored open and with the other bread. They will however, put aluminum on their grill and effectively make you the filling of their sandwiches.
